Incendiile care au devastat de vineri coasta de est a Australiei s-au soldat cu moartea a patru persoane, potrivit ultimului bilant stabilit joi de Politie.
Un corp a fost descoperit in apropierea orasului Kempsey, din statul New South Wales (sud-est) - una dintre numeroasele zone afectate de incendiile de vegetatie, arata AFP. Potrivit Politiei, cadavrul ar putea apartine unui barbat de 58 de ani, care locuia intr-o cabana si nu mai fusese vazut de vineri.
Alte trei persoane au murit in New South Wales, statul cel mai afectat de incendiile de vegetatie care au facut ravagii de-a lungul coastei de est a Australiei inca de vineri, provocate de vanturile violente, de temperaturile caniculare si de vegetatia uscata.
Sute de case au fost deteriorate sau distruse si peste un milion de hectare de vegetatie au fost mistuite de flacari.
Astfel de incendii se produc in fiecare an pe imensa insula-continent in timpul primaverii si verii australe, insa in acest an sezonul incendiilor de vegetatie a fost deosebit de timpuriu si de violent.
